Tottenham Hotspur have officially signed Scotland international Andy Robertson on a free transfer. His move comes after his contract with Liverpool expired.
The 32-year-old left-back ends a nine-year spell at Anfield. He was one of Liverpool’s most consistent defenders during their modern success.
Robertson is Tottenham’s first signing of the summer. The club is rebuilding its squad after narrowly avoiding relegation last season.
De Zerbi praises experienced signing
Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi praised the signing, highlighting Robertson’s leadership, mentality, and experience at the highest level.
“Andy is a player I have admired for many years. He brings outstanding quality, professionalism, and a winning mentality,” De Zerbi said.
“He will be an important addition both on and off the pitch.”

Transfer battle and January interest
Spurs had previously explored a move for Robertson during the January transfer window, but Liverpool blocked any potential deal at the time due to squad depth concerns.
Reports also suggested that Juventus made late enquiries for the Scotland captain, but Robertson ultimately chose to commit to a move to North London once his contract expired.
End of a trophy-filled Liverpool era
Robertson leaves Liverpool after a highly decorated spell that included:
- Two Premier League titles
- UEFA Champions League triumph
- FA Cup and League Cup victories
- Over 370 appearances across all competitions
He also leaves as one of the club’s top assist providers from defence and a senior leader in the dressing room.
Scotland duty continues
On the international stage, Robertson remains a key figure for Scotland, earning over 90 caps and captaining the national team as they prepare for major international competition.
