LIVERPOOL — Andoni Iraola has arrived in Liverpool as the club moves closer to confirming him as its new head coach following the departure of Arne Slot.
The Spanish coach landed at Liverpool John Lennon Airport on Thursday after flying in from San Sebastian on a private jet. He was later seen leaving the airport in a waiting vehicle while final contract details were being discussed.
Sources indicate that Iraola has agreed in principle to a two-year deal with the Merseyside club and is expected to officially take charge in the coming days.
Liverpool moved quickly to secure the 43-year-old after parting ways with Arne Slot last weekend. The Dutch manager was dismissed following a disappointing season in which the Reds failed to challenge for major honours.

Although Slot guided Liverpool to their 20th English league title in his first season, the club struggled to maintain that momentum this year. A fifth-place Premier League finish left them well behind champions Arsenal, although they still secured UEFA Champions League qualification.
Iraola arrives at Anfield with a strong reputation as one of Europe’s most promising coaches. His work at Bournemouth earned widespread praise after guiding the club to a sixth-place Premier League finish and securing European qualification for the first time in its history.

Liverpool supporters will hope Iraola can revive the high-intensity attacking style associated with the successful era of former manager Jurgen Klopp.
An official announcement from Liverpool is expected once final contractual formalities are completed.
