A Mukono motorcycle robbery suspect has been arrested by police following an intelligence-led operation in Kasawo Sub-county. The suspect, identified as Julius Kyeyune, also known as Kavuma, is accused of targeting boda boda riders and robbing them of their motorcycles in secluded areas of Mukono District.
The suspect, identified as Julius Kyeyune, also known as Kavuma, was apprehended during an intelligence-led operation carried out on June 20, 2026, in Kakira Village.
According to investigators, Kyeyune allegedly posed as a customer seeking transport services before luring riders to isolated areas near sugarcane plantations. The victims were then reportedly robbed of their motorcycles.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala said officers searched the suspect’s residence following the arrest. During the operation, police recovered several items believed to be connected to criminal activities, including metal cutters, bars, pangas, motorcycle spare parts, helmets and suspected number plate fabrication materials.
Authorities also recovered a motorcycle number plate, UGB 722Q, two AK-47 cartridges, smartphones, old motorcycle inner tubes, jackets and driving permits. All recovered exhibits have been secured to support ongoing investigations.

Police have urged boda boda riders to remain vigilant when picking up passengers, especially during late hours and in unfamiliar locations. Authorities say criminals often take advantage of isolated routes to target riders and steal motorcycles. Residents with information that could assist investigations have been encouraged to contact police as efforts continue to identify possible accomplices linked to the case.
