Olympique Lyonnais have officially completed the signing of Austrian defender Felix Bacher from Portuguese club GD Estoril Praia in a €4.3 million transfer deal, strengthening their defence ahead of the new season.
The 25-year-old has signed a long-term contract that will keep him at Lyon until June 2031, becoming the club’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window.
Bacher Ready for New Challenge in France
Lyon confirmed that the transfer is worth €4.3 million, with an additional €0.8 million in performance-related bonuses. The agreement also includes a 12.5% sell-on clause, allowing Estoril Praia to benefit from any future profit if Bacher is sold.
Bacher earned praise in Liga Portugal for his commanding aerial presence, composure in possession and versatility across the backline. His consistent performances last season made him one of the league’s most reliable defenders, convincing Lyon to secure his signature.
At Lyon, he is expected to compete for a regular starting role alongside Moussa Niakhaté, as the French club aims to build a stronger backline ahead of the new campaign. His arrival also raises fresh doubts over the future of Croatian defender Duje Ćaleta-Car, who has been linked with a move away from the club.

Speaking after completing the move, Bacher described joining Lyon as a dream opportunity.
