Precious Tumuhirwe, age 35, a former housemaid, has pleaded guilty to charges of torturing a four-year-old girl and causing harm to the baby.
Appearing before Kira Chief Magistrate Shallon Niwaha, Tumuhirwe faced charges of baby torture that happened on December 27, 2024, in Kikoko Zone, Namataba Cell, Kirinya Ward, Wakiso District.
Last week, Tumuhirwe begged the family of the victim and Ugandans for mercy; now he awaits conviction upon his own guilty plea, followed by the sentence.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire assured the public that the case is being handled with the utmost seriousness to ensure justice for the victim.
Child and Youth Affairs Minister Balaam Barugahara lauded the police for their swift action in hunting down the culprit, stating, “This act of violence is inexcusable, and we must stand together to protect our children.”
Tumuhirwe was arrested in Kabale District, where she fled after the assault, and is currently in custody at Kira Division Police Station waiting for what is next by the judges.
Mwesigwa, a single parent since separating from his wife two years ago, hired Tumuhirwe based on recommendations from acquaintances in Kabale.
In conclusion, investigations revealed that Tumuhirwe had worked as a housemaid for the victim’s father, Michael Mwesigwa, for four years.
