A Kampala-based IT consultant, Nicolas Ddumba Katumba, has vowed to take legal action against Multiplex Uganda Ltd, accusing the company of unprofessional conduct after his vehicle was wrongfully clamped.
The incident occurred last Thursday morning along Kampala Road near the former Nandos building. Despite having no outstanding parking dues, Mr. Ddumba’s car was clamped, leading to delays and significant distress.
“I used their payment-checking service and confirmed my account was up to date. Yet, the clamping ticket wrongly listed a different car registration,” he said.

Mr. Ddumba sought clarification from a Multiplex attendant, but the situation remained unresolved. He endured over two hours of inconvenience before a supervisor finally intervened to remove the clamp.
“Multiplex is quick to penalize motorists for late payments, but when they make a mistake, they expect us to accept apologies. That’s unacceptable,” he stated.
Currently employed by Copy Cat Uganda Ltd, Mr. Ddumba is in the process of hiring a lawyer to file a lawsuit. He aims to hold Multiplex accountable and highlight the plight of other motorists who might face similar issues.
“This kind of treatment must stop. Someone needs to set an example,” he concluded.
Efforts to get a comment from Multiplex Uganda were unsuccessful.
