Anita Among Congratulates Joel Ssenyonyi On New LOP Job
The Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Anita Among, has congratulated the new leader of opposition (LOP), Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi, on his new job.
Apparently, the National Unity Platform (NUP) president, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, aka Bobi Wine, appointed the Nakawa West MP to the job.
Hon. Ssenyonyi, who is also the party’s spokesperson, replaces Nyendo-Mukungwe MP, Mathias Mpuuga. Hon. Mpuuga has held the role since May 2021 and has been at the forefront of different clashes with the government.

However, he’s faced a few highs and lows during this job. Some of the lows were from some NUP supporters who didn’t like his diplomatic approach to politics.
“I congratulate the Hon. @JoelSsenyonyi, Leader of the Opposition in Parliament—designate, on your appointment. I look forward to working with you, and may you achieve remarkable success during your tenure. And I also congratulate the Rt. Hon. @MathiasMpuuga for his distinguished service and wish him well in his new posting,” she tweeted.
It’s because NUP has a lot of senior leaders. They, therefore, want to use this opportunity to nurture and groom leaders. Besides, it’s also a moral appointment.
Furthermore, the Speaker of Parliament went ahead to congratulate Joel Ssenyonyi and also wish Mpuuga well in his next posting. Among those who haven’t had a good time with the opposition, one said that she looks forward to an amicable relationship with the new LOP.
In conclusion, rumors had always been circulating that Bobi Wine wanted to drop him. But while speaking about this new reshuffle, Bobi Wine said that this appointment doesn’t mean Mpuuga has been fired or demoted.
