Twenty-six pupils of Kalas Girls primary school have been hospitalized over suspected food poisoning in Amudat district.
However, it is alleged that yesterday, March 6, at around 11:00 p.m., the affected pupils developed stomachaches, throataches, and heart pains after consuming cookies that they found wrapped inside a polythene paper in one of their classrooms.
Michael Longole, Mt. Moroto regional police spokesperson, said that police rushed to the scene after receiving the devastating information from the school head teacher.

Longole said that they have opened a general inquiry file to gather more information concerning the incident. Additionally, he appealed to members of the public who may have relevant information about the incident to report it to the detectives to aid the investigations.
In conclusion, Kalas Girls’ School is also used by Amudat District as a rescue center for girls escaping child marriages and female genital mutilation.
