In a recent development, the United States military has announced a significant achievement in its ongoing efforts to maintain maritime security. A US fighter aircraft shot down an anti-ship cruise missile fired from Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist areas of Yemen toward the USS Laboon, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Sunday (January 14).

“On Jan. 14 at approximately 4:45 p.m. (Sanaa time), an anti-ship cruise missile was fired from Iranian-backed Houthi militant areas of Yemen toward USS Laboon (DDG 58), which was operating in the Southern Red Sea,” read the statement by CENTCOM posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The missile, specifically aimed at the USS Laboon, was neutralized, averting any potential threat to the vessel and its crew.

However, according to experts, the rather ambitious attack by Yemen, if successful, could have signaled the start of a full-blown regional war.

In conclusion, the United States military has once again showcased its unwavering commitment to safeguarding its naval assets by successfully intercepting an anti-ship cruise missile originating from the Houthi-controlled area of Yemen.
