KAMPALA — Uganda has confirmed six additional Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) cases, bringing the total number of infections to 15, the Ministry of Health has said.

Health officials said the new cases were identified through contact tracing linked to an infected Congolese national who recently entered Uganda from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The Ministry of Health reported that one Ebola-related death has been registered so far. The deceased was a Congolese national. Two patients have since recovered and been discharged after treatment.

Authorities are currently monitoring 668 contacts who may have been exposed to the virus. They remain under close observation and regular health checks to prevent further spread.

Ebola is a severe viral disease that causes symptoms such as sudden fever, fatigue, muscle pain, diarrhea, vomiting, and, in severe cases, unexplained bleeding.

Uganda’s national Ebola task force has introduced containment measures. These include restrictions on large gatherings, suspension of music concerts, and tighter border controls with the DRC.

Health officials continue to urge the public to remain vigilant, report symptoms early, and follow all Ministry of Health guidelines.
