KAMPALA, Uganda—Parliament will honour Gen. Moses Ali during a special sitting rescheduled for Tuesday, July 21, 2026. The tribute session was initially planned for Monday but was moved by one day.
Parliament announced the change on Sunday through its official communication channels. The special sitting will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the parliamentary chambers.
Lawmakers will pay tribute to the veteran politician and military officer, who also served as Second Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business. His death on Saturday marked the end of a public service career spanning several decades.
The tribute session was originally scheduled for Monday, July 20, before Parliament changed the date. No reason was given for the postponement.

MPs to Honour Moses Ali’s Legacy
The special sitting will allow MPs from across the political divide to celebrate Moses Ali’s life and reflect on his contribution to Uganda’s political and security affairs.
Throughout his career, Gen. Moses Ali held several senior government positions and represented Adjumani West Constituency in Parliament. He was among Uganda’s longest-serving public officials, with decades of involvement in national affairs.

Legislators will deliver eulogies highlighting his leadership, commitment to public service, peacebuilding efforts, and contribution to Uganda’s governance.
House to Adjourn After Tributes
After the tributes, Parliament will adjourn to allow MPs and members of the public to take part in activities honouring the late statesman.
The sitting will bring together current and former leaders as Uganda continues mourning one of its most prominent political and military figures.
