Morocco To Host 2025 Africa Cup Of Nations Replacing Guinea

Morocco will host the African Cup of Nations in 2025, replacing the former host, Guinea, which was stripped of hosting rights by CAF.

The African Cup of Nations host for 2025 is Morocco. However, a joint bid from the East African region, comprising Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania,has won the hosting rights for the 2027 competitions, as announced by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Guinea, who were supposed to host the tournament in 2025, were stripped of the rights to host last year.

Following concerns about poor and inadequate facilities and infrastructure to fully carry out the tournament, Additionally, a joint Nigerian-Benin And Zambia were also in race for the bidding right of the 2025 tournament.

But the countries agreed to withdraw their proposal in order to allow Morocco to prove it’s worth in the hope that,

It will impress the world and, subsequently, increase the chances of Africa hosting the World Cup.

This is the second time Morocco will be hosting Africa’s biggest sporting event, after almost four decades since 1988.

Morocco is in joint bids with Spain and Portugal to host the 2030 World Cup.

The 2027 tournament hosting rights returns to the East African region, for the first time since 1976, as the trio beats Botswana, Egypt and Senegal in a vote of the CAF executive committee.

“The tournament has to spread around the regions and contribute to the development of football.

In conclusion, the  decision had been based on the level of infrastructure made available by bids, including facilities, hospitals, and accommodation.
