KAMPALA — Thursday, May 21st, 2026 — Tension is reportedly rising within Uganda’s political circles as uncertainty grows ahead of President Yoweri Museveni’s expected cabinet reshuffle for the 12th Parliament.
Reports circulating in political corridors claim that some former ministers, fearing exclusion from the new cabinet lineup, have allegedly shifted from formal lobbying to seeking unconventional means to secure their positions.
According to sources familiar with the developments, several senior officials said to be uncertain about their political future have reportedly turned to spiritual guidance from traditional practitioners.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that some individuals were recently seen at different locations believed to host traditional healers, where rituals and consultations allegedly took place.

The alleged developments are said to reflect growing anxiety among political figures as they await the president’s final decisions on cabinet appointments.
However, political observers caution against treating such claims as fact, noting that ministerial appointments remain solely at the discretion of the president and follow official government procedures.
They also warn that such reports, if true, highlight the uncertainty that often surrounds major government reshuffles in Uganda.
By press time, government officials had not issued any formal response to the allegations, and the identities of those involved remain unconfirmed.
