Liverpool have parted ways with head coach Arne Slot following a disappointing 2025/26 campaign. The club finished fifth in the Premier League.
The Dutch manager leaves Anfield after less than two years in charge. He arrived from Feyenoord and immediately delivered success by guiding Liverpool to the Premier League title in his debut season.
In a statement, Fenway Sports Group (FSG) thanked Slot for his contribution, praising his professionalism, leadership, and commitment during his time at the club.
The decision was taken by FSG chief executive Michael Edwards and sporting director Richard Hughes after reviewing the team’s performances at the end of the season.

Although Liverpool dismissed speculation about a managerial change during the campaign, club officials have concluded that a new direction is needed.
Liverpool want a more aggressive and attacking style of play as they prepare for the next phase of their long-term project.
Former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Slot. He recently left Bournemouth after impressing with his high-intensity football and ability to develop young players.
Slot succeeded Jürgen Klopp in 2024 after the German’s departure following nine years at Anfield. While he enjoyed immediate success, he was unable to maintain consistency in his second season.
Liverpool are now expected to open talks with potential candidates as they prepare for the 2026/27 campaign.
