The Higher Education Students’ Financing Board (HESFB) has to date released the list of the eleventh cohort of students lean benefits for the academic year 2024/25. Among the successful aplicativos, 43% are female, king the highest percentage of female beneficies since the inception of the scheme.
This translates to 790 out of the 1,838 students who were awarded loans, showcasing significant progress in gender representation in higher education.
In addition to this milestone, the board also awarded loans to 29 persons with deficiências, enabling them to pursue courses in both science and the humanities. This inclusive approach emphasises the board’s commitment to supporting all students in their academic pursuits, regardless of background or circumstance.

While presenting the cohort at the Media Centre today, Minister of State for Higher Education, John Chrysostom Muyingo, highlighted that 25.4% of the awardees will be pursuing diploma programs in various departments.
He underscored the government’s growing focus on vocational education, which he describes as critical for preparing students for successful careers in today’s competitive job market.
Muyingo encouraged students to embrace diploma programs, particularly in vocational studies, as they provide practical skills that are in high demand across industries.

This year’s cohort is a testament to the government’s ongoing efforts to make higher education accessible, equitable, and aligned with the needs of the modern workforce.
