Pakwach Authorities Impound Over 500 Bags of Charcoal
The police authorities in Pakwach District are holding two box-body trucks with registration numbers UBK 915B and UBG 755V, respectively, loaded with over 500 bags of charcoal.
This follows an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Joint Security Intelligence agencies in the district to crack down on errant and untouchable charcoal dealers.
The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Pakwach, Mr. Eseru Paul, stated that they now have all the information and evidence on how these charcoal dealers have been eluding their security checks. At the time of profiling this story, four suspects were in police custody.

“We even know the landing sites where these individuals load from, including the notorious racket. But we shall not allow them to flout the President’s executive order,” said RDC Eseru. According to RDC Eseru, these individuals will be taken to court, where their fate will be decided.
In February 2024, a notorious charcoal dealer was also arrested and charged in court, and the charcoal was auctioned with orders from the court.
It should be noted that in May 2023, the President issued Executive Order No. 3 banning commercial charcoal production in Northern Uganda to protect the environment from rapid degradation.
In conclusion, RDC Paul Eseru has warned all charcoal dealers to abide by the law, as the rule of law, as guided by His Excellency the President, shall not spare them.
