Judiciary Committee appoints new officers
The Judiciary Committee has announced the appointment of 42 new judicial officers at various levels of the Judiciary across the country.
According to a press release dated May 14th, 2023, the Judiciary Committee appointed 14 Deputy Registrars, 8 Assistant Registrars, and 20 Chief Magistrates in acting capacity for a period of one year and the Commission also appointed 22 Court Clerks and 33 Office Attendants.
According to the statement issued by the Judicial Service Commission Communications Officer, Ms Maria Theresa Nabulya, this is the first time that the Commission has appointed staff of these categories as they were previously recruited by the Public Service Commission in line with Article 148 A of the Constitution.
These changes made by Judiciary Committee will enable even the young generation to access these positions.
Ms Nabulya, one of the board members told our news reporters that “The appointment of the judicial officers and the support staff will go a long way in improving access to justice and reducing case backlog in courts across the country. We have appointed you to work for the people not for your own good,”.
Below is the list of the new judicial appointed officials; Grade One Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu has been promoted to Chief Magistrate alongside Ms Doreen Ajuna, Stella Amabilis, Joan Aciro, Sarah Bashaija Musiime, Bamuhiga Patric, Sarah Basemera, Said Barigye, Samson Loum Abiti, Moses Baligeya, Edith Mbabazi, Margaret Aanyu, as well as prominent Lawyer Ronald Kayizzi.
