Ugandan music star Sheebah Karungi has spoken candidly about a challenging period in her life, revealing that she struggled with severe emotional distress in 2018 despite enjoying major success in her music career.
The singer shared that the pressures that came with fame, constant public scrutiny, and demands from the entertainment industry left her feeling overwhelmed and emotionally drained.
According to Sheebah, there were moments when she questioned whether anyone truly cared about her wellbeing beyond her success as an artist. She explained that the negative attention surrounding her career contributed to feelings of loneliness and frustration.
Reflecting on that period, the award-winning performer noted that 2018 was one of the busiest years of her career. While fans celebrated her achievements, she was privately dealing with emotional challenges that many people did not know about.
Sheebah revealed that after acquiring land in Munyonyo in 2016, she spent the following year saving money with the goal of beginning construction. However, as she pushed herself to achieve her ambitions, she found herself facing depression and intense pressure.
The singer explained that her struggles were not caused by a single event. Instead, they developed gradually as she came to realize that the music industry, which had brought her purpose and happiness, could also become a source of emotional pain.
She described the experience as a difficult lesson about the realities of fame and the sacrifices that often come with success in the entertainment world.
Her remarks have sparked conversations among fans about the importance of mental health awareness and the need for emotional support, particularly for public figures who often face immense pressure behind the scenes.
