A second-year Makerere University student has been found dead near the university’s Main Library, leaving fellow students and residents of Nkrumah Hall mourning his sudden death.
The deceased has been identified as Kabuye Kevin Charles, a Bachelor of Architecture student and resident of Nkrumah Hall, where he lived in Room C34.
According to a statement from Nkrumah Hall leadership, Kabuye was found dead on Monday morning, September 29, 2026, inside a network mast enclosure near Makerere University College of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS) and the Main Library.
“It’s with profound sadness that we announce to you the sudden demise of our resident at Nkrumah Hall, Kabuye Kevin Charles, a 2nd year student of Architecture,” the hall leadership said in a statement shared on its official social media platforms.
Nkrumah Hall Chairman Joseph Ssekabira also confirmed Kabuye’s death in a statement dated September 29.
Ssekabira identified the student by registration number 25/U/0900 and described him as a dedicated second-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Architecture.
“His sudden departure leaves a deep void within the Hall and across the entire campus,” Ssekabira said.
The circumstances surrounding Kabuye’s death had not been disclosed by the hall leadership at the time of the announcement. It was also not immediately clear how he came to be inside the network mast enclosure.
Nkrumah Hall leadership extended condolences to Kabuye’s family, friends, classmates and the wider Makerere University community.
The university community is now mourning the student as further details surrounding the incident remain awaited.
