WAKISO, Uganda — Police in Wakiso District have arrested a 34-year-old woman in connection with a disturbing Wakiso child abuse case involving a 10-year-old boy.
The suspect, identified as Nankunda Esther, is currently being held at Nateete Police Station following the incident, which reportedly occurred on March 20, 2026, during Eid Day celebrations.
According to police, the victim—a Primary Four pupil—had been left under the care of the suspect by a relative. It is alleged that at around 5:00 p.m., the woman accused the boy of stealing 100,000 Ugandan shillings before subjecting him to severe punishment.

Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect allegedly burned the child’s hands using a heated polyethylene bag in what authorities have described as a serious act of abuse.
The victim has since been rescued and taken for medical examination as officials assess the extent of his injuries.
Police have confirmed that the suspect remains in custody pending court proceedings, with investigations into the Wakiso child abuse case still ongoing.
Authorities have strongly condemned the incident, warning the public against violence toward children and reaffirming their commitment to ensuring justice is served.
