Sserwadda Issa remanded to prison for stealing meat

Buganda Road Court remanded a 30-year-old man over the theft of 15 kilograms of meat. Additionally, the suspect is identified as Sserwadda Issa, a resident of Lugazi in the Namengo zone.

However, he appeared before grade one magistrate Caroline Kyoshabire and denied two counts of shopbreaking and theft.

The prosecution states that on December 8, 2023, in Lugazi Zone in Buikwe District, Sserwadda broke into a butcher belonging to Kato Sembatya and stole 15 kg of meat valued at 220,000 Uganda shillings. He will return to court on the 20th of this month for trial.

Still in the same court,a watchman was sent on remand after allegedly stealing saucepans, among others, belonging to his employer.

It’s alleged that on December 8, 2023, in Kampala, 23-year-old Membere Benson and others stole 11 saucepans, 42 plastic chairs, 33 pairs of shoes, and charcoal stoves, among others, all estimated at 3.5 million shillings.

In conclusion, however, he denied the said charge and was remanded until December 20, 2023, when he returns to court for trial. The said properties belonged to Buikwe High School.
