Former Tottenham captain Son Heung-min, aged 33, has been called upon to lead South Korea at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
My son is currently continuing his football career with Los Angeles FC in the United States.
The presence of key players from top European clubs is expected to strengthen South Korea’s squad. These include Lee Kang-in of Paris Saint-Germain, Kim Min-jae of Bayern Munich, and Hwang Hee-chan of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
South Korea has been drawn in Group A alongside co-hosts Mexico, the Czech Republic, and South Africa. They will play all their group-stage matches in Mexico and begin their campaign against the Czech Republic on June 11.

Beşiktaş striker Oh Hyeon-gyu was also included in coach Hong Myung-bo’s 26-man squad, alongside Celtic FC winger Yang Hyun-jun and Birmingham City midfielder Paik Seung-ho. German-born Jens Castrop of Borussia Mönchengladbach also made the final squad.
