London, UK — May 4, 2026 — In one of the most shocking results of the season, Nottingham Forest delivered a sensational performance to thrash Chelsea FC 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.
The standout star of the night was Nottingham Forest forward Taiwo Awoniyi, who produced a remarkable hat-trick, scoring in the 2nd, 15th, and 52nd minutes.
Fast Start Shocks Chelsea
The visitors wasted no time asserting dominance. Just two minutes into the match, Taiwo Awoniyi capitalized on a defensive lapse to slot home the opener, catching Chelsea completely off guard. Before the Blues could regroup, he struck again in the 15th minute, doubling Nottingham Forest’ lead with a clinical finish.
Chelsea struggled to find rhythm throughout the first half, with their midfield overrun and defense repeatedly exposed by Nottingham Forest’ quick transitions.
Hat-Trick Hero Seals the Game
Any hopes of a Chelsea comeback were dashed shortly after halftime. In the 52nd minute, Taiwo Awoniyi completed his hat-trick in style, finishing off a well-worked team move to make it 3-0.
Despite the heavy defeat, Chelsea remain 9th on the table with 48 points, while Nottingham Forest, currently 16th, move to 42 points—closing the gap and boosting their survival hopes.
