April 22, 2026 — Ngora, Uganda — Several officials from Ngora District have been charged in connection with an alleged Shs1.7 billion fraud case involving public funds, authorities have confirmed.

The suspects appeared before court following investigations into suspected financial mismanagement and irregular payments within the district administration.

Details of the Case

According to prosecution reports, the officials are accused of participating in a scheme that allegedly led to the loss of Shs1.7 billion in public funds.

The funds were reportedly meant for district development programs, though investigators say they were diverted through questionable transactions.

State Attorney Silas Ssenoga told court that inquiries are complete and the State will line up more than 80 witnesses, including district staff, auditors, and bank officials
