Kampala, Uganda — April 22, 2026 — The passing of former Works and Transport Minister Monica Azuba Ntege has drawn attention to a career that spanned decades in engineering and public service.
Azuba, who died at the age of 72, was widely recognized for her role in shaping Uganda’s infrastructure sector, both as a civil engineer and later as a government minister.
Career in Public Service
She served as Minister of Works and Transport from 2016 to 2019, overseeing key projects aimed at improving Uganda’s road network and transport systems.
Her tenure came at a time when the government was investing heavily in infrastructure development, including road construction and upgrades across the country.

Engineering Background
Before entering politics, Azuba built a strong reputation as a civil engineer. She worked on several national projects and held senior roles in the engineering sector.
