A family in Namisindwa District is appealing for financial assistance to help their 21-year-old son, Michael Mamayi, who suffered severe injuries after being attacked and burnt in May this year.
Mamayi, a resident of Busambatsa I Parish in Buwabwala Sub-county, says he was returning home at around 9:00 p.m. from a local drinking place when unknown assailants attacked him and set him on fire. The motive for the attack remains unclear.
He reported the incident at Buwabwala Police Post, however, authorities say no arrests have been made so far as the victim was alone during the attack and could not identify the suspects.

Mamayi was initially admitted to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital for treatment, but was later discharged due to financial challenges that made it difficult for the family to continue paying for medication and care.
According to his father, Patrick Bwobi, the family now needs more than Shs2 million to facilitate specialized treatment at a better-equipped medical facility.
“We are appealing to well-wishers to support us so that we can save our son’s life. His condition requires urgent specialized care,” Bwobi said.
The family says public assistance remains their only hope of ensuring Mamayi receives proper medical attention and a chance to recover.
