KAMPALA, UGANDA — July 14, 2026 — Police in Nateete, Kampala, are investigating a case involving a Kampala man disguised as woman who allegedly used a female identity to secure employment as a domestic worker before reportedly stealing UGX 1.7 million from his employers.
The suspect, identified as Kayaga Rayan, is alleged to have used the identity Namirembe Rukia while applying for domestic work at a residence in Mutundwe, Rubaga Division.
Police say the alleged disguise involved the use of women’s clothing, makeup and other appearance changes aimed at presenting him as a female worker.
The matter reportedly came to light after the suspect underwent a security check at a church in Mutundwe, where his identity was questioned. The employers later discovered that money was missing from their home and reported the incident to authorities.

Authorities have cautioned members of the public to carry out thorough background checks and verify the details of domestic workers before employment to reduce cases of fraud and theft.
