The police in Rukungiri district have detained Nicholas Ainembabazi, a security guard attached to Millennium Security Company, for the alleged murder of a 22-year-old man.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, told the press that on March 5, 2024, at around 10 p.m. at Rugoma C in Kebisoni Town Council Rukungiri district, the deceased was crossing a banana plantation belonging to Bitama Feredansi to his grandmother’s home.
However, the deceased has been identified as Kenneth Masanyu, a Munyankole resident of Kyobugombe cell, Kamahuri parish, Rugarama North sub-county, Ntungamo district.

He got confused with the path and ended up in a banana plantation near the compound of Kazaire Julius at Rugoma Cell, Southern Division, Kebisoni Town Council, where a security guard was on duty.
Maate adds that when the security guard, Nicholas Ainembabazi, ordered him to sit down, the deceased remained standing, prompting the security guard to shoot directly at him, resulting in his instant death.
Maate confirmed that the body was taken to the Rwakabengo HC III mortuary for postmortem examination, as inquiries into the matter are ongoing.
In conclusion, the murder case was officially registered at Rukungiri police station under reference number CRB: 259/2024.
