KAMPALA — A prosecution witness in the treason trial involving opposition politician Dr Kizza Besigye has told the High Court that two guns and alleged fake money were already inside a Nairobi apartment before co-accused Obeid Lutale arrived.
Andrew Wilson, also known as Orlando, made the claim while continuing his testimony in the case on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
Wilson told court that the firearms had been placed near the entrance of the room where the meeting was taking place. He also said he handled the guns, meaning his fingerprints could potentially have been left on them.
During cross-examination, defence lawyer Kizito Farooq Kamulegeya questioned the witness about whether the guns could have been planted to implicate Lutale.

Wilson agreed that it appeared the items were intended to implicate Lutale.
The witness described the operation surrounding the Nairobi meeting as an intelligence operation.
The evidence relates to the November 2024 meeting in Nairobi that later became an important part of the prosecution’s case against Besigye and his co-accused.
Wilson has previously testified about meetings and recordings that he says involved discussions concerning alleged plans to overthrow the Ugandan government by force.
The State alleges that Besigye, Lutale and UPDF Captain Denis Oola were involved in meetings in Uganda and abroad as part of a plan to overthrow the government.
The three accused have denied the allegations.
The trial is continuing before the High Court in Kampala as the defence questions Wilson about his evidence and the events surrounding the Nairobi meeting.
