The police in Hoima District are investigating circumstances under which four people were knocked dead in a deadly road accident that involved a trailer and a cyclist.
According to Hakiza, the accident that involved a motorcycle registration number UFC 344X and a trailer registration number UAZ 363D/UBA 128A left the rider and three passengers dead.
The incident, according to Albertine Region Police Spokesman Allan Julius Hakiza, happened on Tuesday evening, July 16th, 2024, along the Hoima-Butiaba road at Parajwoki Cell, Bujumbura Division, in Hoima City.
According to eyewitnesses, the rider was heading in the Kigorobya direction from Hoima City, and they had a head-on collision with the traveler.
“The man had gone to pick up his wife and the child from Buhimba in Kikuube district, and unfortunately, they all died on the spot,” an eyewitness recounted.
Hakiza confirmed the incident and said they are yet to get the particulars of the deceased persons, adding that the police are investigating the main cause of this accident.
In conclusion, the rider and the three passengers died on the spot, while the trailer driver escaped after the incident.
