MP Theodore Ssekikubo Denied Microphone At PLU Event in Hoima
News reaching our platform says Lwemiyaga County MP Theodore Ssekikubo has accused the leadership of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) of denying him a chance to address Hoima residents on Saturday, June 29th.
However, this was during a PLU Thanksgiving ceremony for the appointment of the group’s leader, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, as Chief of Defense Forces. The event at Boma grounds, Hoima, attracted a number of residents and leaders from various sections.
Like any other event with political undertones, politicians, particularly Members of Parliament, were given an opportunity to speak to the public. However, this was not the case for the former rebel MP. Ssekikubo, who is championing a motion to censure four backbench Parliamentary Commissioners, was denied the chance. The Commissioners allegedly allocated themselves Shs 1.7 billion without Parliament’s authorization.

Furthermore, the decision to deny Ssekikubo the microphone was sanctioned by Hoima District Woman MP Harriet Busingye. Busingye is also the vice chairperson of the Hoima District Parliamentary Association.
“You do not just storm into an event that you were not invited to and demand for a microphone.” Harriet Busingye added.
According to MP Busingye, giving Ssekikubo an opportunity to speak would disrupt a rather peaceful event. Busingye alleged that Ssekikubo would use the opportunity to talk about his censure motion, yet the event was to thank God for General Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s appointment.
In conclusion, Busingye says she made the decision to protect other MPs from getting embarrassed by Ssekikubo. She says Ssekikubo wanted to openly call out the Hoima MPs who haven’t appended signatures to his censure motion.
