SC Villa captain David Owori has been hospitalized after an alleged attack by unknown thugs near his home in Makindye, sparking concern among football fans and the Ugandan sports community.
The incident happened on Tuesday night at around 8:00 p.m. Owori is currently receiving treatment at Case Clinic.
Initial reports indicated that Owori had been involved in a boda boda accident. However, SC Villa spokesperson Asan Kasingye later dismissed the claims and confirmed that the player was attacked.
“Our SC Villa captain David Owori was attacked last night near his home in Makindye at around 8 p.m. by unknown thugs. He is critically injured and admitted at Case Clinic. Our president will address the press about this developing story. Get well soon, son. Our prayers,” Kasingye posted.

The club has not yet revealed more details about the attack. It remains unclear whether any suspects have been arrested as investigations continue.
Owori is one of SC Villa’s longest-serving players and is currently in his second spell at the club. He has earned a reputation as one of the Uganda Premier League’s most reliable defenders and a respected leader for the record champions.
The incident comes at a difficult time for SC Villa, who are preparing to face Maroons FC in the FUFA Super 8 return leg on Friday at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
Football fans, players, and clubs across Uganda have sent messages of support. Many are also calling on authorities to find those responsible and bring them to justice.
