KCCA, Kitara Battle for Fufa Super 8 Final Spot at Hamz Stadium

Kampala, Uganda — August 10, 2026: KCCA FC and Kitara FC face off in a highly anticipated Fufa Super 8 semi-final on Monday. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00pm at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

Both sides are chasing a place in the tournament final. Victory would take either team one step closer to lifting the Super 8 trophy and making an early statement ahead of the new season.

The semi-final promises an intriguing contest. KCCA are determined to restore their trophy-winning reputation, while Kitara are looking to make history by reaching the final for the first time.

KCCA arrive with perfect quarter-final record

KCCA booked their place in the last four after beating BUL FC 4-2 on aggregate.

The Kasasiro Boys won both legs 2-1. The two victories secured their place in the semi-finals.

They will now face a Kitara side that also impressed in the quarter-finals. The Royals eliminated Police FC 4-1 on aggregate.

Kitara won the first leg comfortably. Police then managed a 1-0 victory in the return match, but it was not enough to overturn the aggregate score.

KCCA and Kitara players battle for a place in the Fufa Super 8 final

Ssenyondo faces former club.

The match carries an added storyline for KCCA coach Brian Ssenyondo. He previously coached Kitara.

Ssenyondo hopes to overcome his former employers and guide KCCA into the Super 8 final. However, he knows his team will have to be at their best.

“We face a good opponent, and we anticipate a difficult game, but like we showed against BUL, we are ready, and the target is to win and get into the final,” he said.

The KCCA coach also stressed the importance of the competition as the club prepares for the new season.

“This competition is very important for us because it sets the tone for the season in front of us, and we want to win it.”

For Ssenyondo, reaching the final would be more than another competitive achievement. He wants KCCA to return to their traditional position as trophy contenders.

“There is being competitive like we were last season and then winning trophies, and that is the main target this season. To bring trophies back to this club because it is what it is known for.”

Lwanga leads KCCA’s attacking threat.

KCCA could have another attacking option in Ibrahim Kasule. The midfielder completed his move to the club on Friday and is available for selection.

However, it remains uncertain whether the new signing will feature in the important encounter.

Much of KCCA’s attacking responsibility is expected to fall on Charles Lwanga. He has already scored twice in two Super 8 matches.

Lwanga will be supported by Sammy Ssebaduka and Said Mayanja. KCCA will look to break down a Kitara defence that has already proved difficult to overcome.

Kitara chasing history

Kitara have an additional incentive heading into the semi-final.

Although the Royals have previously beaten KCCA in this competition, they have never reached the Fufa Super 8 final.

A victory on Monday would give them a historic chance to compete for the trophy.

Coach Wasswa Bbosa will rely on experienced players such as Kabon Living and Patrick Kaddu to lead the attack.

Kitara will also need to remain disciplined at the back. KCCA have already scored four goals in the competition.

The team that takes its chances could have the advantage. Both sides will also need to remain composed in what is expected to be a closely fought semi-final.

BUL and Police meet in early playoff.

Before KCCA and Kitara take centre stage, BUL FC and Police FC will meet in the early kick-off. The match is the Fufa Super 8 fifth-place playoff.

Both sides will be looking to finish their campaigns on a positive note after falling short of the semi-finals.

With a place in the final at stake, all eyes will turn to Hamz Stadium. KCCA and Kitara will battle for the first ticket to the Fufa Super 8 final.
