Kampala, Uganda — May 2, 2026: The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development has announced major leadership changes at the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL), marking a renewed push for accountability in Uganda’s energy sector.

Board Chairperson Lydia Ochieng-Obbo has been removed from her position, while Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Paul Mwesigwa has been placed on forced leave.
