London, United Kingdom — April 21, 2026 — British counter-terrorism police have arrested seven people in connection with a series of suspected incidents in London, as investigations into a possible coordinated plot continue.

Authorities say the arrests are linked to an ongoing investigation into alleged attempts to carry out attacks targeting venues associated with the Jewish community.

According to police, seven of the arrests were made within the past 48 hours as part of a suspected conspiracy to commit arson. The exact intended target has not yet been confirmed.

Arrests across multiple locations

Police confirmed that suspects were arrested in different parts of England, including Harpenden, Stevenage, Birmingham, and London.

Those detained include men and women aged between their 20s and 50s. Some suspects have been released on bail, while others remain in custody for questioning.

One additional arrest was made under the UK Terrorism Act in connection with a separate incident involving suspicious materials discovered in London.

Ongoing investigation

Counter-terrorism officers say the investigation is still ongoing, with searches continuing at several premises linked to the case.

Authorities believe the suspected plot may be connected to a wider series of arson incidents targeting Jewish-related sites in London in recent weeks.

Since late March, multiple incidents, including attacks on ambulances, synagogues, and community buildings, have been reported, prompting increased security operations across the capital.

Police statement

Officials have warned that anyone found involved in planning or carrying out arson attacks will face “significant legal consequences.”

Police also said one of the key lines of inquiry is whether individuals are being paid to carry out crimes on behalf of others.
