Speaking to Uncovered UgRichard Todwong, the Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement, said the party opted to uphold precedent by allowing both leaders to complete two full terms.

“The party agreed that maintaining continuity and stability in parliamentary leadership is critical. Any other party members who had shown interest in the positions were asked to step down in the interest of unity,” Todwong said.

With the endorsement from the party leadership, Among and Tayebwa are now widely expected to retain their positions, positioning the ruling party to enter the 12th Parliament with experienced leadership in the August House.
