The Ugandan media industry is mourning the loss of Joseph Sseruwooza, a respected journalist and Parliament correspondent for BBS Terefayina, who passed away on Friday morning.
According to information released by the television station, Sseruwooza died at the Uganda Heart Institute in Mulago, where he had been receiving treatment for heart-related complications.
The news of his passing was confirmed by BBS Terefayina through a brief statement that left colleagues, viewers, and friends in shock.
“Sad news! Our colleague here at BBS Terefayina, Joseph Sseruwooza, has died,” the station announced.

Sseruwooza was widely recognized for his coverage of parliamentary affairs, political developments, and national issues affecting Ugandans. Through his reporting, he helped simplify complex debates and legislative proceedings for Luganda-speaking audiences across the country.
Beyond his role as Parliament correspondent, he also hosted “Zuukuka N’Ensonga,” one of BBS Terefayina’s current affairs programs that focused on public discussions and national concerns.
Following the announcement, tributes began pouring in on social media from journalists, politicians, and viewers who praised his professionalism and dedication to journalism.
Many described him as a hardworking reporter whose contributions helped strengthen public understanding of parliamentary business and governance.
By Friday afternoon, details regarding burial arrangements had not yet been released. BBS Terefayina said further information would be communicated by the family and the station in due course.
His death marks a significant loss to Uganda’s media fraternity and to the many viewers who followed his reporting over the years.
