Uganda has bolstered security measures to safeguard public well-being throughout the Easter holidays, which began on Friday, March 29, 2024, while also issuing warnings regarding potential terrorist threats from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels, stated a military spokesperson.

Maj. Charles Kabona, the first infantry division army spokesperson based in the central district of Wakiso, told reporters that the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) and other security agencies have intensified patrols and deployed personnel to protect people traveling during holidays and ensure peace, safety, and security.

However, Maj. Kabona told uncoveredug news reporters that “as we are entering this Easter festival from today (Friday) up to Monday, there are some negative elements—people with criminal minds, especially the ADF—who have penetrated and entered our country with the intention of attacking places of gathering and killing our Ugandans.”.

Furthermore, “We are cautioning you. Be vigilant and security-conscious. We are working around the clock to ensure we protect the lives of Ugandans and their property, as we have been doing before,” he added.

The ADF, also affiliated with the Islamic State in Central Africa, has been held responsible for instigating chaos and carrying out attacks in the North Kivu and Ituri provinces of the eastern DRC.

In conclusion, Uganda remains under threat from the ADF, a rebel faction operating from the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
