Ugandan comedian Yokana Mbuuse, popularly known as Kapere, has reportedly died at a hospital in Buddo, according to media personality Kasuku.

“Comedian Kapere is gone. He has passed on at a hospital in Buddo,” Kasuku posted.

However, his brief announcement did not identify the hospital or reveal the cause of death. Details about funeral arrangements were also not immediately available.

Kapere was a familiar face in Uganda’s entertainment industry, particularly through his work with the Amarula Family comedy group.

The comedy outfit also featured Allan Mujuni, popularly known as Amooti, and Nicholas Mpiirwe, widely known as Messe Bontwe. Together, they entertained audiences and became recognisable figures in Uganda’s comedy scene.

Kapere’s journey into comedy was far from ordinary. In a 2013 interview with Daily Monitor, he recalled how a chance encounter with a taxi driver helped open the door to his entertainment career.

He also spoke about embracing his appearance and turning the ridicule he experienced into an opportunity to build a career in comedy.

Away from the stage, Kapere also shared aspects of his personal life with the public. In a Daily Monitor profile published on February 12, 2026, he and his partner, Lydia Nakandi, discussed their 14-year relationship and the prejudice they had experienced as a couple.

Kasuku’s announcement has prompted attention towards the comedian’s reported death, although further details surrounding the circumstances remain unclear.

Uncovered UG has not independently verified the death. Confirmation from his family, hospital authorities or other reliable sources is still awaited.
