Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), under the supervision of Executive Director Sharifah Buzeki, conducted a massive cleanup exercise on Kampala streets.
The Enforcement teams, supported by police, removed illegal kiosks and unplanned structures from streets and buildings across the city.
Yesterday, February 19, 2026, authorities ordered street sellers, unregistered boda boda riders, and taxis outside designated parks to evacuate by 8:00 pm.

The KCCA executive director, alongside Dr. Sarah Zalwango, director of public health and environment, and spokesperson Daniel Nuweabine, monitored the ongoing exercise of keeping the city clean.
A strong warning has been set for those traders who will dispute the laws put in place. Authorities stress that enforcement will continue vigorously. They promise strong action against anyone who ignores the directive.
Vendors who work at night
Some vendors, especially single mothers, seek permission from Minister Kabanda to help them work and feed their families.
Vendors might seek designated markets or licensed trading zones. Registering with local authorities allows access to safer, legal locations. City leaders promote dialogue to balance cleanliness with livelihoods.
In conclusion, the activity done by the KCCA board will help to keep the city clean and reduce the rate of jams, especially in most parts of the city, and this move will make Kampala a clean city.
