Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has said he expects to win 90 percent of the vote in Uganda’s 2031 presidential election if he receives the backing of his father, President Yoweri Museveni.

Muhoozi, who is Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, made the statement on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in a post on X accompanied by a photograph of himself with President Museveni.

“With my great father, Mzee’s, support I will get 90% in the elections in 2031,” Muhoozi wrote.

The remarks come after Muhoozi declared his intention to contest for Uganda’s presidency in 2031.
