Man City returned to winning ways with a commanding 3-0 victory over local rivals Man United at the Etihad Stadium. Phil Foden opened the scoring with a header, and Erling Haaland added a brace in the second half to seal the derby win.
In the 18th minute, Jeremy Doku made a great run down the wing and delivered a precise cross that found Phil Foden, who nodded home to give City the lead.
Early in the second half, 53 minutes in, Haaland extended the lead. He latched onto another slick pass from Doku and chipped the goalkeeper after evading Luke Shaw’s challenge.

The Norwegian striker wasn’t done: in the 68th minute, he capitalized on a mistake by United in midfield, sprinted clear on goal, and finished sharply past the goalkeeper to make it 3-0.
City looked much more composed compared to their prior matches. Their build-up play was fluid, especially down the flanks, where Jeremy Doku troubled United’s defense repeatedly.
Manchester United, meanwhile, struggled to create clear chances. Their midfield couldn’t contain City’s movement, and defensively they lacked urgency and cohesion, especially when handling transitions. Gianluigi Donnarumma, making his Premier League debut for City, also had little to do, but when called upon, he made the necessary saves to maintain the clean sheet.
United manager Ruben Amorim accepted that his side was outplayed but insisted that his tactical philosophy wouldn’t change on reaction.
Manchester City’s 3-0 victory over Manchester United not only provided a statement win in the derby but also offered a boost in morale after a shaky start. With Foden rediscovering form and Haaland maintaining his goal-scoring consistency, City will feel confident going into their upcoming fixtures.
