Kyle Walker Signs New Contract Extension With Manchester City

England’s right back Kyle Walker signs a new Manchester City contract, keeping him at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2026.

The England international has cleared any doubts about his future at Pep Guardiola’s side after signing a new contract extension with the treble winners.

The right back was close to joining German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich but is now committed to City for two extra years, penning a new deal until 2026.

However, Kyle’s position became unclear when he stepped away from the team for a brief period of time last campaign season, and the city coach addressed the issue in a press conference, saying that he (Kyle) is not capable of playing in the new team style of play as an inverted full back.

Kyle played his way back into the team and played an important role in City’s treble trophy wins last season.

Additionally, he has been given the club captaincy since Kevin de Bruyne’s injury at the beginning of the new season.

Kyle Walker’s statement following the contract extension:
I’m absolutely delighted for me, my family, and everyone that’s put in the hard work to get me here today, and I am to represent this fantastic city definitely for two more seasons, hopefully many more. It’s a real honor.

I think on this team there’s something special. Obviously, just coming back from an amazing last season, winning the treble, and finally getting the Champions League, which is a trophy we didn’t have as a group and collectively, I wanted to go and do it again.

In conclusion, the lads have got that hunger again to go and achieve something really special again this season. Fingers crossed.
