Kikuube District LCV Chairperson Peter Banura has died following a tragic road accident along the Hoima–Kagadi road.
Banura, who is the son of Matayo Kyaligonza, was involved in the accident on April 4, 2026, in Kiziranfumbi.
The sudden death of Peter Banura has shocked residents of Kikuube District, with many describing him as a dedicated leader who was actively involved in community development.
The latest incident adds to growing concerns over road safety, with calls for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent further loss of life.
According to eyewitnesses, the crash occurred when a taxi driver lost control and rammed into pedestrians. Banura was reportedly struck while attempting to run for safety. He was initially rushed for medical attention in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries.
Several other people were injured in the accident and taken to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital. The exact number of casualties remains unclear, although early reports suggest that up to four people may have lost their lives.

Balaam Barugahara, the State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, described Banura as a humble and patriotic leader in a condolence message.

Police have launched investigations into the cause of the accident. Burial arrangements are yet to be announced.
