Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, the Minister of Health and Lira City Woman MP, has launched the women’s health camp on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. The camp kicked off on Monday, August 5, 2024, at the former Akii-Bua stadium in Lira City. The health camp will be officially closed by Dr. Jane on August 9, 2024.
There is an overwhelming number of patients being screened by several doctors from different parts of the country. Patients suffering from various health complications could not hide their happiness at welcoming Dr. Jane Aceng Ocero.

The minister called on the people to pray for her before God and love one another. In chorus, the people gathered in thousands and promised to vote for her in the 2026 general election as Lira City Woman MP with The theme for the women’s health camp is “Improving the Health of Women and Children in Northern Uganda.”
Lira City Deputy Mayor Alwedo Rebecca said God has blessed Lira City and the Lango sub-region with able leadership, including Dr. Jane, among others in Lira City. She noted that the fortunate developments taking place in Lira City started when Hon. Minister Dr. Aceng took leadership recently.
Dr. Nathan Onyaci, the Lira Regional Referral Hospital administrator, commended Dr. Jane Ocero for her excellent service in the health sector.
Vincent Okurut, the new Lira City town clerk, said he has been received very well by the leadership of the city and promised to support and work together with Dr. Jane in the development of Lira City. He thanked Honorable Minister Aceng for her visible and hard work for Lira City.
Lira RCC Lawrence Emmy Egole pointed out a number of achievements in various health centers, including Ober Health Centre IV, where over 100 expectant mothers deliver every month. He also cited other health centers, such as Punoluro and Anyangatir Health Centre III, among others.
He dismissed allegations by some enemies of progress who are flooding social media with propaganda and malice against health workers, claiming extortion of money. He thanked and appreciated the management of Lira RRH, including the doctors and nurses who have sacrificed their time for the surgery exercise in the women’s health camp organized by Dr. Jane.
RCC Egole appealed to the people of Lira to vote for movement leaders headed by H.E. the President of Uganda, Gen. Yoweri Museveni, in 2026 because the NRM government has done a lot to create wealth, including PDM.
