News reaching our platform confirms that one person has been confirmed dead and several others injured following a Gateway bus accident that occurred in Rwabahaze, located in Mukama Town Council, Rukiga District, along the Kabale-Mbarara Road.
According to initial reports, the bus, registration number UBM 707X, was traveling from Kampala to Kabale when it failed to negotiate a sharp corner. The vehicle veered off the road and overturned, leading to the fatality and multiple injuries.
There was no death recorded, but a woman who happened to be walking on the roadside when the accident happened sustained serious injuries.

Kigezi Region Police spokesperson Elly Maate said the injured were first rushed to Rotom Health Center. Those who were seriously injured were then transferred to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital.
The injured were identified as Karim Balabye, the driver, aged 54, from Bugembe in Jinja District; Assumpta Kyomuhangi, aged 40,a businesswoman from Wakiso District; Ronnie Nowamaani, aged 18, a student from Wakiso District; Blaire Nowamaani, 14, from Kabale; Brandon Nowembabazi, 11, from Kabale; and Dafroza Rwakinda Tumushabe, aged 77, a resident of Nyakabungo Cell, Muhanga Town Council in Rukiga District.
Others were Patience Busingye, 49, from Kampala; Benson Kiconco, 55, from Kampala; Paulson Asiimwe, 40, from Rubanda; Tracy Ninsiima, 21, from Muhanga Town Council; and Richard Bashiisha, 34, from Rwanda.
In conclusion, accidents have raised road safety concerns in Uganda, with activists calling for more to be done so as to reduce the loss of lives and injuries associated with them.
