According to data from Nielsen Media Research, the following individuals are among the most prominent media proprietors in Uganda:

– Aga Khan: Owner of Nation Media Group, which operates Daily Monitor, NTV Uganda, Spark TV, Dembe FM, and KFM. The Nation Media Group is a leading media conglomerate in East Africa, with interests in print, television, and radio.
Kin Kariisa: Founder and CEO of Next Media Services, which owns NBS TV, Sanyuka TV, and Nxt Radio. Kariisa is a prominent figure in Ugandan media, known for his innovative approach to digital media.
Muhame Giles: Founder of Chimp Reports, a popular online news platform. Giles is a well-known journalist and commentator on Ugandan politics and current affairs.

According to Nielsen Media Research, radio remains the leading medium in Uganda, but its reach has declined from 89% in 2019 to 70% in 2024. Television viewership has also dipped slightly from 38% to 37% over the same period. Conversely, internet usage, particularly social media, has surged from 10% in 2019 to 26% in 2024.
