Late Kadir’s Son, Uthuman Mubarak, Wins Hoima NRM Primaries

Uthuman Mugisa Mubarak has emerged victorious in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries for the Hoima district LCV Chairperson position.

The NRM party elections were held on Monday, August 28, 2023, to find the party flag bearer in the Hoima Lc5. By elections slated for September 14th, 2023.

However, the victory is particularly significant as Mugisa Mubarak is the youngest candidate and the son of the late Kadir Kirungi, the former Hoima District Chairman who died in a road accident in March this year in Kiboga district along Hoima-Kampala Road.

The election results, announced by Dr. Tanga Odoi, the NRM Party Electoral Commission Chairman, revealed that Mugisa Mubarak secured eleven thousand three hundred eighteen votes, clinching 53.4% of the total votes.

Savannah Vincent Muhumuza, also a strong contender in the primaries, received 8,897 votes, securing the second spot.

Other candidates, including John Kwemara with 720 votes, Jackson Magambo Mulindamburra with 126 votes, and Moses Byahuka Mutagwa with 113 votes, Samuel Milton Byaruhanga, known as Kyakadongo, obtained six votes, marking the end of the list.

The NRM party secretary for Hoima District, Mr. David Maxwell Kaboyo, urged all party members, including the unsuccessful candidates, to unite behind Mugisa Mubarak to ensure a successful campaign in the final election.

One of the candidates in the Hoima district Lc5 NRM primaries By the elections, Yunus Mugabe withdrew his candidature from the race a few days before Election Day, citing personal reasons and anticipated irregularities.

In conclusion, he said he will contest as an independent candidate in the general elections, which he believes will be free and fair, while maintaining that he is still an NRM party member.
