With heavy rains predicted in several areas of the country, the Office of the Prime Minister has issued a weather advisory warning of possible flooding, landslides, and strong winds.
The advisory, valid from February 19 to February 28, 2026, warns of flash floods, urban flooding, mudslides, rockfalls, strong winds, and hailstorms.
According to the signed advisory by Davis Mwenyi for the Permanent Secretary, the advisory identifies areas most likely to be affected as Western, Lake Victoria Basin, Elgon, and Bukedi in Eastern Uganda.

However, farmers are encouraged to take advantage of the early rains to plant food crops like maize and beans and fruit trees like mangoes and oranges to restore degraded areas and improve nutrition.

Flash floods are expected in low-lying and flood-prone areas, whereas urban flooding is expected in Kampala City and surrounding metropolitan areas.
Meanwhile, mudslides and rockfalls are expected in the Elgon region, where residents are advised to watch out for cracks in the soil and leaning trees, which are all early signs of a mudslide.
Authorities have advised the public to stay alert and adhere to safety guidelines as heavy rains are expected across several regions. Residents in affected areas are encouraged to take necessary precautions while government agencies continue to monitor the weather situation.
