Born on December 5, 2009, Nyanzi Martin Luther is not just another teenager—he’s a self-made young media entrepreneur, digital skills advocate, and founder of Apex Media Services. His journey is defined by hardship, resilience, and sheer willpower to create something of his own—even when the odds were stacked against him.
He was born to Joan Vumilia and Ssekaayi Simon and has two siblings: Nakaayi Dorcus and Nabagulanyi Patricia. His educational path reflects the turbulence he faced growing up. He began nursery at St. Anne Junior School, later attended Upendo Christian School for Primary 1 to Primary 4, and then transferred to God’s Hands Junior School Buddo for Primary 6 (first term), which he abruptly left. Eventually, he settled at MK International School in Busega, where he completed his primary-level education and scored 13 aggregates in the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).
His upbringing was far from easy. Despite his father being seen as well-off in the village, Nyanzi remembers having just four pairs of clothes and surviving on posho and beans every day. “People talked about him as rich, but at home, it was like being in a boarding school all year round.” He recalls the pain of getting his first phone—only for his father to break it with no real explanation. After his parents separated, his mother left with his sister, Nakaayi, while he stayed behind with his father.

He eventually got another phone, which he used to grow his current ventures. But even as he matured and gained independence, betrayal wasn’t far behind. In 2025, he experienced what he calls a life lesson: “An incident at school with new friends taught me—never trust anyone too fast. They came around when I had something, then left when I didn’t.”
The dynamic with his father remains difficult. While his father occasionally appreciates his work, it only takes a small mistake for him to be called “stupid” or blamed unfairly. “Even when he’s wrong, he finds a way to make me the problem—blaming the phone, or something else,” Nyanzi shares. “Sometimes, he sits with family and discusses me like I’m not there. I don’t pay attention anymore. I’ve learned to be my own best friend.” In 2022, inspired by sci-fi movies, Nyanzi wanted to start a YouTube channel dedicated to uploading cinema content. But after running into copyright limitations, he pivoted. That same spark led him to radio. He began with a basic setup— “not a real radio station,” he admits—and by 2024, he had transitioned to high-quality radio production after learning the necessary skills and enrolling in a secondary school in Buddo. It was then that he officially launched Apex Media Services, laying the foundation for future brands despite limited funding.
“I have never received family help in my business apart from support from my mom when we were still living together,” Nyanzi shares.
He has always been clear about staying focused. “From 2022 up to now, I have no relationship status until further notice,” he says. “I’m focused on my businesses and generating new ideas.” His father has asked him to join the family disco business, but Nyanzi refuses. “I can’t work in a business where I’m insulted, seen as useless, and then handed UGX 10,000 after 11 hours. If I sit and work alone, I can do better.”
“One thing I’ll never forget is how rude he was to me when I was younger—the insults, the disregard. Yet he uses the very resources I help provide—like water. Sometimes, he’ll even ask to borrow from me, forgetting everything I’ve done.”
Despite his challenges, Nyanzi Martin Luther is not one to dwell in bitterness. He’s building something new. His media journey continues through Apex, and he’s committed to empowering youth with digital skills, creative platforms, and storytelling power—without waiting for validation from those who overlooked him.
